Jonric: Relative to the entire CRPG category in general and other action RPGs in particular, what are the distinguishing aspects in terms of your design philosophy, your design goals, and the gameplay style or experience you are aiming to provide? Game Designer Liu Yu Bin: Prince of Qin possesses the attributes of most RPGs, but it puts a great deal of weight on the realistic recreation of the historical and social environment in which you can appreciate many things such as the palaces, houses, woods, mountains, rivers, cities and villages in that ancient time. A year later, the game genre was determined to be action RPG because we think this can ensure players will enjoy not only the fun of fighting, but also the excitement and splendor of a great historical period in ancient Chinese civilization. ![]() About three years ago, we started to collect materials and made some serious analysis. ![]() So the Qin Dynasty period seemed to us like a natural choice for a game that we wanted to have a lot of appeal in the west as well as in Asia. But most of them don't know about the Qin Dynasty, although they are very curious about it and interested in it. Many people in the western world know about the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors in the tomb of the First Emperor. It is our goal and responsibility to ensure that players will be enjoying a great experience in Chinese ancient civilization each time they play the game. We have been determined to create a game that is not only entertaining but also very ancient culture-oriented. Jonric: What kind of game did you originally set out to create? Was there a unique or unusual vision behind the concept? Liu Yu Bin: We hope that the charm of the Great Qin Dynasty will reappear in this game, and that through Fu Su's eyes, players will be able to really experience the major events as well as everyday life at that time. The single-player game will mainly stage the adventurous journey that sees Fu Su seek to avenge his father, thousands of innocent people and himself. Eventually, he found that Zhao Gao, the Chief Eunuch under his father, was the primary instigator of the conspiracy. He tried every effort to discover the truth. However, he later found his father had passed away some time ago and that actually both his father's death and the edict ordering him to commit suicide resulted from an evil conspiracy. Originally, Fu Su intended to see his father and ask him about the truth of the edict. Under protection from his soldiers, Fu Su fled from the Qin troops who had been ordered to see that the edict was implemented. He felt there was something very strange about the edict and didn't commit suicide in accordance with it. Later, Fu Su, the Crown Prince, who was leading troops to defend the northern border, received an edict ordering him to commit suicide. In 210 BC, Ying Zheng, the First Emperor, who was the founder of the Great Qin Dynasty, died a sudden death on the way back from his tour to the east of his empire.
